Carnoustie Golf Links, venue of the 2007 British Open and generally regarded
as one of the toughest and best links courses in the world, required a full revamp
of the irrigation system in 2001.
This included a new state of the art pump station capable of supplying from 0
to 280m3/hour at 8 Bar from two large storage tanks fed by multiple borehole pumps. The pump controls were to be integrated with the PC based irrigation control
system and report, via text message, to the course management at any time of day
or night should a fault occur within the pump station itself or with the boreholes
and water supply system
generally. The controls would also need to include a leak detection system to
prevent damage to the course in the event of a leak in the irrigation pipe-work.
The pumping system was designed, supplied and installed by Pumpac, on budget
and on time.
“I would recommend Pumpac to anybody looking for a good quality pumping system.”
John Philp MBE, Course Superintendent, Carnoustie Golf Links.
