Goodwood Estate runs on water drawn from two boreholes. Throughout the year there
is a steady demand for potable water on the Estate, which includes two small villages,
but during the spring and summer this increases dramatically with the demand
for irrigation water on the racecourse and golf course, peaking during the Festival
of Speed when over 150,000 spectators and competitors
visit for 3 days.
It is essential that a secure water supply is available throughout the year,
and that this can be relied upon absolutely during the peak periods essential
to the economy of the Estate.
Working with 2IC Consulting Engineer’s, Pumpac’s brief was to design, supply
and install a booster station to pump water to holding tanks 2 miles away and
120m above the pump station. From there water would be fed by gravity across the
estate. In particular the pump station had to be capable of long term, fault free
operation and have
a working life of 50 years .
“I am entirely satisfied with Pumpac’s diligent and efficient attitude to their
work and would recommend them to any potential client.”
