Goodwood Estate water supply transfer pump set

Goodwood Estate water supply transfer pump set

Goodwood Estate runs on water drawn from two boreholes situated on two separate sites on the estate. There is constant demand for potable water on the Estate supplying 2 small villages, the farms and the Race Course. The demand can fluctuate dramatically at various times of year with numerous festivals taking place and especially in the summer months with Irrigation of both the Race Course and the Golf Course and peaking during The Festival of Speed when over 150,000 spectators and competitors visit for 3 days.

It is essential that a reliable water supply is available throughout the year but particularly during periods of peak demand. Working with 2IC Consulting Engineer’s, Pumpac’s brief was to design, supply and install a booster station to pump water to holding tanks 2 miles away and at a height of 120m above that of the pump station. Water is then fed by gravity across the estate. The remit to Pumpac was to design and build a pump set capable of long term, fault free operation and have an expected working life of 50 years .

Kevin Sloane MRICS, R & M Manager, Goodwood Estate Co. Ltd.
