Application

Using a central pump controller and panel mounted inverters, PBS boosters are designed for medium to large building services applications.

Description

The PBS range of booster sets has been designed for applications where security of supply is critical. They use a main control panel housing all pump controls, including the inverters, and a door mounted AUC3400 HMI/central pump control unit. Theey combine energy efficiency and a high level of operational control with practical mechanical design.

  • Energy efficient variable speed pump control
  • 2, 3 & 4 pump options, 5 to 100 l/sec
  • Tough, durable and practical to maintain
  • Bespoke arrangements to suit site
  • Simple but versatile controls
  • Stainless steel or upvc pipework
  • Soft start following power failure
  • GSM modem link to pc or mobile phone

The Pumpac PBS range of quality assured cold water booster sets has been designed for use in both small and large commercial building services applications where security of supply is critical. PBS booster sets use a main control panel housing all the pump controls, including inverters for each pump and a door mounted AUC3400 HMI/central pump control unit. These energy efficient booster sets combine a high level of operational control with practical mechanical design.

Typically Grundfos CR and Lowara SV pumps are powered by Danfoss inverters and plumbed with AISI 304 stainless steel pipework, uPVC/ABS pipework and valves are an option.

The pumps are mounted on galvanized steel skids with rigid panel supports. Standard arrangements exist but where necessary pipework and panel orientations are adapted to suit existing/planned services and the space available on site. All components are readily accessible for maintenance with the plumbing designed to enable removal or replacement of pumps, inverters and valves whilst the booster set remains operational.

All Pumpac booster sets can be supplied with a combined break tank positioned over the unit to reduce the overall footprint of the water supply equipment, and significantly reduce installation costs. Combination units come fully fitted and tested requiring plumbing only to the tank inlet valve and from the booster set delivery isolation valve. Pumpac will size the tank if required and can deliver, disassemble and re-assemble on site if access is an issue. The insulated WRAS Approved GRP tanks range from 90 to 7000 litres capacity and can be supplied as one-or two piece units to further aid access (See Pumpac Combination Units).

All are designed to meet the requirements of The Water Regulations. Pumps, valves, pressure vessels and all other materials in contact with water are WRAS Approved.

The package comprises:
  1. Between 2 and 4 pumps selected with or without a stand-by pump as standard.
  2. A 1 or 3 phase control panel built to IEE Regulations with door-interlocked isolator, an AU3400 pump control unit with door mounted HMI, individual pump Hand/Off/Auto switches, a potentiometer to control the pump speed in Hand (Hand operation is independent of the pump control unit), individual pump run and fault indicators, a low level cut-out and full range of BMS volt-free contacts (inclusion optional).
  3. Duty pump rotation.
  4. Sophisticated soft-start controls to eliminate surge after power failure
  5. Galvanised steel skid and rigid galvanised steel panel supports.
  6. AISI 304 Stainless steel manifolds as standard, 4-20mA pressure transducer.
  7. Individual pump suction and delivery isolation valves and soft-seating spring loaded check valves.
  8. Pump delivery elbows to facilitate removal of a pump or valve without the need to disable the remainder of the booster set.
  9. One manifold mounted accumulator with inlet isolation valve for each pump, sized to suit the application, as standard.
  10. Delivery manifold pressure gauge and isolation valve.
  11. Anti-vibration mountings as standard.
  12. All pre-wired and fully wet-tested prior to despatch.
 Options include:
  1. Use of up to 6 pumps.
  2. Use of pumps with motor-mounted inverters.
  3. Alternative pipework and control panel arrangements to suit the site circumstances.
  4. Fully wet-tested combination units incorporating break/storage tank to reduce both the overall water supply equipment footprint and the overall costs (See Pumpac Combination Units leaflet CU1).
  5. 1 or 2 optional jockey pumps for use on larger systems.
  6. Up to 2 x skid mounted accumulators sized to suit application.
  7. Bypass system on skid mounted accumulators to ensure flow through the vessel in Legionella high risk applications such as hospitals and surgeries.
  8. Numerous control options (See Pumpac PBS leaflet PBS1) including GSM Modem fault reporting by text, remote monitoring via PC, remote reporting to PC, remote data-logging to PC, all using free-issued AUC, Windows based software.
  9. AISI 316 stainless steel pipework and pumps, impact resistant PVC or ABS pipework, copper pipework on sets with up to 2” dia manifolds.

Booster Set Specification

Specification Code Number:-   PBS-AxBBBB-C-D

PBS       Booster Set Type
A            Number of Pumps                  (2 to 6)
BBBB    Pump Model Number
C           Type of Mains Supply            (M = Single Phase, T = Three Phase)
D           Pipework Material                 (SS = 304 Stainless Steel, SS316 = 316 Stainless Steel,
 V – Impact resistant PVC, A = ABS, Copper = Cu.)

For example, a booster set with Specification Code Number PBS-3xCRi20/4-T-SS would comprise three Grundfos CRi20-4 three phase pumps with stainless steel pipework.
